Can't confirm neither fix. Please re-file if you can show output proving
that a certain module (file?) has written the specific file (use lvu
from as stated earlier).

There is this file "magic.mgc" that currently lives in "/". Shouldn't
this guy be in "/usr/share" or "/usr/share/magic" ? See the "file" man
page for more info.

can you run a 'lvu from magic.mgc' so we know which module installed
this file?
