Thanks for your help. I didn't tell I tried double quotes as suggested, but it gave:
DNAT to $ dest: <--
variable name expected - if you want to concatenate strings, try using double quotes
failed!
Yes, you are right about the manuals. What should I do? I wanted to avoid installing a non-packaged ferm, I thought whatever version in included in Debian should handle stuff like this...

Try this one:
DNAT to "$dest:$port_inter";
(Using double quotes)

You are using ferm 2.0.7, but you are looking at manual of 2.0.9 or newer. If you use an outdated ferm version, you should be reading an outdated manual version!
